OSL Member's Only Forum Opens

A private online forum for OSL members opened Saturday, November 20th. Vowed members of the Order can access the forum through the member's only portions of this web site. The purpose of the member's only section is to provide a place where topics restricted to the membership can be discussed and worked on collaboratively. Abbot Dan Benedict has started the forum area with a discussion on members leaving the Order. Br. Dan's desire is to include the larger community as the topic involves all of the Order's members.

The member's forum is not the same as the Cyber-Chapter. The Cyber-Chapter is a public forum and enjoys broad support both within and outside of the Order. The member's forum allows members to collaborate in private with each other on topics specifically restricted to the membership. Some examples of such topics includes private prayer requests, proposals to change our constitution or bylaws, and general discussions of a family nature that involve the broader membership of the Order but do not need to be shared with the public at large.

The member's forum will provide space for any chapter that wishes to have it's own discussion area.

Even More Photos of Retreat 2010 Published

Thanks to Br. Steve Ball, we have a yet another great set of photos of the 2010 Annual Retreat posted in the Member's Only area of this web site. Br. Steve shot over 700 photos and we're the beneficiaries. It appears to me that everyone attending was pictured, with many of our siblings getting a nice photo of themselves chatting, praying, or studying. Br. Steve, from all of us, thanks for making this wonderful pictorial record of who we are and what we do. It's wonderful!

The Font Archives Available

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of several members of the Order, an online archive of The Font, our private in-house newletter, is now available to members on this web site. Sr. Sue Moore, editor of The Font, was the driving force behind ensuring issues were made available to the membership. Br. Gregory Hayes (among others) discovered problems with file formatting, and passed these issues along to Br. Rog Baker, who reformetted and uploaded the documents.

Complete issues from January 2005 forward are avilable, as are a few issues from 2004 & 2003. Any member possesing any issues not yet posted in electronic form are encouraged to pass them along to our webscribe, Br. Rog, at This email address is being protected from spambots. Daily Office Revision Team Reports Progress

Br. Dwight Vogel, cannon of the Order, has lead the effort to revise the daily Office and Book of Offices & Services. His report, given to the General Chapter, includes many items of joy. Br. Dwight raised the question of sufficiency of the current set of services & offices in our books. The team considered whether or not the proposed volume(s) should be sufficient as a "chapter book" so that an association or chapter (or smaller gathering) to provide adequate resources for a variety of sizes of groups and settings.

Br. Dwight reported that Br. Don Salyers has agreed to share some of his works, as have others whose works have been proposed for the revised Daily Office resources. He gave a call for feedback on the work of the team as it progresses. One remaining major revision remains. The proposed materials are posted in the member's area of the web site under OSL Archives->Retreat 2010->Worship.
